Running Stitch

Uses: Outline, straight and curved lines.
- Work from right to left.
- Move the thread 1 down to 2, 3 down to 4 and continue.
- The spaces between the stitches can be the same length as the stitches or short for a different look.

Suggestions:
- Keep an even tension and the thread will pull or avoid or stitch.
- See the Lasting Running Stitch for a variation of this stitch




Back Stitch

Uses: Outline, straight and curved lines.
- Work from right to left.
- Bring the needle to 1 and back to 2.
- Move to the left and move the index to 3, then move to the bottom 1 Continue stitching.

Suggestions:
- Create shorter stitches for curved lines and shapes.








 Split Stitch


Uses: Outlines straight and curved lines, working together in rows to fill a shape.
- Work from left to right.
- Bring the needle up to 1 and down to 2.
- Return the needle to 3 by dividing the center of the previous stitch.
- Move down to 4 and then back up to 2.
- Continue sewing.
Suggestions:
- Make short stitches for the curve.
- Use any shape outline before sewing satin stitch to create a raised effect.
