Embroidery stitch guide.......

General Stitching Tips for DMC:

- With each stitch, twist your needle about a quarter of a quarter to prevent the thread from twisting.

- If your thread is twisted during sewing, drop the threaded needle and let it hang freely until it "undings".
- Avoid running the thread behind the fabric to move it to a new sewing position, instead starting at each section and stopping to make sure that the running threads do not appear on the front of the fabric.
- Keep your hands clean and avoid handling foods and drinks when you sew.

- Identify dots for uniform stitch size - To achieve uniform stitch size, use a ruler or tape measure to pinpoint evenly spaced points along the sewing line. You will learn to set sewing distances with experience.
- "Up and Down" Knives - While working on a hoop with your fabric it is preferable to trim the index vertically up and down through the fabric while making each stitch.
- Keep your tension even - To create a smooth uniform stitch, pull each stitch in the same amount of tension. If the stitch is too loose, the stitch will appear loose and if the stitch is too tightly pulled, the fabric will bend and distort the design.

-Learn how to use both hands when sewing - It is practice to learn how to handle the index and to learn how to hold the hoop while sewing. Sometimes both hands need to complete a stitch and the hoop hand must be used to help keep the loop while sewing the other hand.

- A floor or table stand allows you to keep both hands free for sewing. If you have difficulty using both hands while trying to catch the hoop, try the stand.
