The Benefits of Embroidery

The Benefits of Embroidery

This particular creative outlet is, for me, the most enjoyable. It's lightweight, low maintenance and noisy (when I spread my kit all over the sofa and leave no room for Tom to sit ...)

One of the things I really like about embroidery is the feel. It is a productive hobby and you can measure your progress very easily and visually. As the number of complete hoops starts to be limited and as I revise my technique or learn a new stitch, I feel proud of myself. This is a simple pleasure, but an important one. Pride in our work and our expertise is a well-appreciated luxury in our society. Embroidered gives me a glimpse of success with each new stitch and I love it!

For me, embroidery is incredibly treatable. It grabs my attention enough, but doesn't require so much concentration that I can't listen to the latest Galt Feminist episode or retouch Brooklyn 99 for the 147th time. Repetitive motions are admirable for an over-active brain like me and can be done literally anywhere.I've taken the hoop to work on the bus, in the cafe, and I've even been known to finish some sewing in the weekends. It is a versatile, flexible hobby that can fit into your lifestyle, no matter how busy you are. This is the perfect May time activity in my opinion.

There is an amazingly tight-knit craft community online (excuse crafting shale). Embroidery is especially prevalent on Instagram. Through the Insta, people share, sell, and learn how to see the wide range of embroidery industry in the various hashtags. It's really incredible.
You cannot make an irreversible error while you are embedding. Either unpick it, cover the cover or snipe a rogue stitch and no one will ever know that your needle is about to walk down the aisle. And don’t be afraid to get creative. The possibilities with embroidery are endless. People embroider in all sorts of places, everywhere. There are opportunities to take up - Express your creativity and see what you can create!
