How do I start embroidering?
Thread a needle and stab some fabric!
If you are still not interested in drawing your own design or handing it over for free, you can find plenty of room for sewing and pre- drawn patterns lessons.
There is a great selection of DMC patterns that you can download for free from their website. If, like me, you don't have a light box at home, just stick your design in your window and look for your pattern in that instrument. Their patterns also tell you which stitches to use and how to make them. I've already used some of their patterns and downloaded a bunch more, waiting to copy some fabric.
YouTube is also your friend. You can learn specific stitches from lots of videos online. Let me just reiterate how I forgot to do anything. They are incredibly useful and straightforward to follow.
Buy the book! Check online for embroidery shops, bookstores and embroidery embroidery guides online. There are many, and once you feel confident you can hand the book over to someone else.
Etsy is a great place if you are able to pay for patterns.
What are you waiting for?
Embroidery is really cool. It's productive, beautiful and will end the gift and wall art for everyone you know! You can only improve your skills and you will always feel like you have achieved something after the sewing session.
I’m always ready for a brainstorming session, so if you want to get started and sew a friend, hit me up!
