Twisted knot stitch (fig. 178). to figure hold the working
thread down with the thumb on the brink of the spot where you initially brought
it out, twist it twice around the needle, turn the needle round from left to
right, following the track indicated by the arrow, pass it through the things
at the place which is marked by a dot, and draw it out at the place where

To work, bring the needle up from the rear and twist the
thread round it as repeatedly because the length of the stitch requires, hold
the left thumb on the species of curl thus formed, and spending the needle and
thread through it, insert it at the top of the leaf where it first came out,
and draw it out at the proper place for subsequent stitch.
Button-hole bars (fig. 180).— When a pattern is adorned with
open-work bars, begin by tracing the surface parallel lines. Then button-hole
the entire lower line and therefore the upper one, till you come to the place
where the primary bar is to be; then you carry your thread across and convey up
the needle from below through one among the loops, as, shown within the figure;
lay three threads during this manner, inserting your needle the third time one
loop supplementary on. Then cover the three threads thickly with button-holing.

Different sorts of scallops (figs. 181, 182, 183).— The
outlining stuffing and button-holing of those scallops is execute within the
manner already described. take care to adapt the length of the stitches to the
form and size of the scallops. If they're pointed (figs. 182, 183), the
stitches will need to be set very closely together on the inner line, and a
touch play allowed them on the outer, to return precisely to the function,
which should be very loudly defined.
