Supplies and Sweater Weather Pattern

•    Sweater
•    Embroidery floss
•    Tracing paper
•    Pencil
•    Thread
•    Scissors
•    Needle

Note: When choosing a sweater, look for a knit that is fairly smooth. Lime knits work, but they are even more difficult to embroider evenly.

Pattern

Print the pattern and shape it as you like. The pattern page includes three versions, each with a separate curve. Hold the pattern up to your sweater's neckline to see which one works best.

If you do not want to use the phrase "sweater weather" you can write something in your handwriting or print it in a simple font.

Trace the Pattern

Use a regular pencil to trace the pattern on tracing paper.
Cut it loosely around the design so that there is at least 1/2 inch of extra space around the words.

Baste the Pattern to the Sweater

Use regular threads and long running stitches to best fit the pattern of tracing paper along the sweater's neckline.

As you attach the paper, make sure the pattern is aligned with the neckline. If it is curved now, the embroidery will also be curved.

Embroider the Design

Start your embroidery with a distal knot, which will temporarily end the embroidered floss with a standard knot sweater at the end of the thread and will not be secured.

Embroider the design with your favorite basic stitch. Three strands and reverse chain stitches are used in the sample, but you can use something as simple as a back stitch.

Tip: If you want to make some lines thicker than others, you can add stitching to the second line just next to the first, but the next step is to do it after you remove the paper.

When finishing a thread and starting a new one, knit the ends securely behind the previous stitches. After all the embroidery is done, carefully snipe the knot away. Thread the end of the loose thread with your needle and knit it behind the entire stitch.

Remove the Paper Template

To finish off your embroidery sweater, remove the basting stitches from the tracing paper. Next, carefully tear the paper and begin. Try tearing the edge of the stitch, but avoid tugging on too much stitches.
Sometimes pieces of paper get stuck under embroidery. You can use a needle and / or tweezers to gently move the pieces.

Your sweater is ready to be worn, and just for the cool breeze of autumn and winter in winter!
